Cardi B, Bad Bunny & J Balvin – I Like It
Only Cardi B could take Pete Rodriguez’s classic “I Like It Like That” and elevate it to a towering level. Her song-of-the-summer contender is pure fun and features great lines like “Spicy mami, hot tamale.” From the moment it was released on the rapper’s debut album, Invasion of Privacy, it quickly replaced Cardi’s own Number One hit “Bodak Yellow” as the go-to song to blare out all over the world. The single topped the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Cardi B’s second number one, the most for a female rapper in the chart’s history, and the first for both Bad Bunny and J Balvin.
Kendrick Lamar & SZA – All the Stars
“All the Stars” appeared on the soundtrack for Marvel’s movie, Black Panther. The track has received numerous accolades and nominations including a nomination for Best Original Song at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, as well as receiving four nominations at the 61st Grammy Awards including Song of the Year and Record of the Year. With a slick production, pop-inflected hook and an engrossing verse, this song has definitely given a massive success to the artists.
Shawn Mendes – In My Blood
In Shawn Mendes’ hit “In My Blood,” the singer-songwriter sets up the story with a description of anxiety. “Help me, it’s like the walls are caving in.” This track is definitely one of Shawn’s most mature efforts to date with a commendable song writing ability. It’s a crucial transition and we’re extremely excited about a future full of incredible music by Mr. Mendes. The song is nominated for Song of the Year at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. What a wonderful year for Shawn, isn’t it?
Zedd, Maren Morris, Grey – The Middle
Zedd, Maren Morris and Grey’s “The Middle” finds itself on top of multiple charts for dance/electronic roundup. The smash collaboration was the biggest selling song in the genre in the first half of the year, as well as the most streamed song. This track is a scientifically infectious pop song, like the hook was an actual virus. “The Middle” provides an unlikely combination of EDM, ’90s pop and modern country music with impassioned vocals by Maren Morris – and eventually made it catchy and infectious.
Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper – Shallow
“Shallow” is the focus track from A Star Is Born that evolves from a song about drowning and transcendence into the powerful anthem about love and filling the void personally and professionally. Lady Gaga’s vocal is staggering: raw, rasping, and powerful. Of course, the track received positive reviews from music critics who praised Gaga’s vocals, the dramatic nature of the composition and the song writing, while feeling it worthy of award nominations.
So, what are you waiting for? Go blast these songs off like there’s no tomorrow!
